See The Hue

2021

Featuring seven alluring tracks including “One More Minute” and an entrancing title track, See The Hue is a delicate reflection of Atlantic Canyon’s past experiences, a creative outlet she leans on to digest life’s traumas and connect with her true identity.
See The Hue is documentation of self-discovery, a journey that allowed Atlantic Canyons to blossom into the happiest version of herself. “It bears witness to feelings of fear and loneliness, and there is catharsis in acknowledging unpleasant emotions,” she reveals. “By allowing myself the freedom to experience these feelings without judgment, I became unburdened by them.”
Written, recorded, and produced at her home in rural New Hampshire, See The Hue is an innovative, genre-bending experience made possible by session musicians Atlantic Canyons met online. She gracefully blends traditional guitars and percussion with ethereal harmonies, taking inspiration from feelings of vulnerability that lay at the heart of her stylistic approach. The EP artistically manipulates elements of dream pop, trip-hop, and chamber pop to evoke calm, melancholy, and tenderness from listeners.

About Atlantic Canyons

ALevesque 1.jpg

After a lifetime of conforming to societal expectations, Atlantic Canyons, aka Andrea Levesque, is ready to reintroduce herself as the energetic artist she’s set aside for so many years.

A fiery passion for playing music was lit within Levesque in childhood as she learned to play piano and violin. After graduating high school, she dedicated her life to the sciences, eventually attending law school. Now, Levesque feels ready to connect to her true identity and uses music to digest life’s traumas, a therapeutic escape that helps her process thoughts and emotions she’s carried throughout her life. As she prepared to release her first EP, she felt happier than ever, relieved to allow the hidden parts of her life to come forward. “I really love feeling a sense of personal connection when the music resonates with other people,” Levesque shares.

See The Hue is Levesque’s debut EP, written, recorded, and produced in her rural New Hampshire home. She constructed her project remotely with the help of some session musicians she met in online music chat rooms. See The Hue was a global effort. The EP’s title track features two guitarists, one from Delaware and the other from Northern Ireland, with a drummer from Nashville and co-producers from England, rounding out a dreamy, lush sound that showcases the international DNA of the album. OK Go drummer Dan Konopka mastered the album, adding the finishing touches before the release date earlier this year. Levesque capitalized on the unique opportunities brought upon by the pandemic, ensuring her music has a distinct sound.

Leaning on elements of dream pop, trip-hop, and chamber pop, as well as an old violin, Levesque’s compositions seek to elicit a number of emotions: calm, nostalgia, tenderness, anxiety, melancholy, and perhaps most importantly, catharsis. Orchestral elements combine with delicate vocal melodies, ethereal harmonies, and frequent lyrical references to the ocean. These elements originate from feelings of vulnerability and lay at the heart of Levesque’s stylistic approach. “It’s a letter to a past self, sometimes sad, but also encouraging,” she says of See The Hue.

Levesque looks to the future with an air of positivity, looking to push herself creatively, forming new connections with her audience along the way. She hopes fans get to know her as “someone who is kind, caring, and encouraging; maybe my music helped them get through some hard times, or encouraged them in some way.”

Follow along as Levesque exposes life’s ugliest wounds in the most beautiful fashion.
